I have a Savage 17 hmr with the standard wood stock, not the thumbhole. I have a Leupold vx-I and a bipod on it. I can easily shoot 3/4" groups at 100 yards with it.

It is a fun little rifle.

    17HMR is a rimfire.

I have the Savage thumb hole heavy barrel stainless and love it. It is a squirrel killin machine..

The 96250 is Savage's SKU number for their model 93R17BTV. That looks like a really nice rifle, you should be pleased with that.

I have a Savage 93R17BTV. Sweet shooter!!! I have 3 other Savage 17HMR models, but this thumbhole is my favorite. I pick up my 17HMR ammo at gun shows in Phoenix and Mesa AZ for $8 per 100. Well worth the fun IMHO!

I bought a marlin 917v 17hmr. the gun is a little heavy, but accurate, you can easy get more accurate than what you are now, just try differnt ammo. like mine it likes the cci 20grain hollow point, can cover a ten shot group with a dime. in a rest of course, but that acuracy is very obtainable with these rifles. does not matter what brand they are all super accurate, and they are a ball to shoot, and rather cheap. so I hope you all kinds of fun in the future with it, and happy hunting.

I bought the marlin 917v 17hmr and love it. it does not matter what brand you buy, these little guns are super accurate. you can get more out of yours, just try some diffent ammo. Mine likes the CCI 20grain hollow point. on a rest I can cover a ten shot group at a hundred yards with a dime, yours will do the same, just get used to it and have fun.

I had a Savage 93R17 until about a month ago. When I bought it a couple of years ago, I shot it quite a bit, but then it was put in the safe and just never shot any more. I sold it to a buddy who enjoys shooting it. The $11 or $12 50 round boxes of ammo kind of made me put it in the safe.
