Has anybody else heard about Schrade closing up shop ? Their website doesn't say anything about it . Any truth to it ?

If they are, I'm going to be very unhappy. I have a couple of grandkids who haven't their 1940T yet and expect some GGKs pretty soon. come to think of it, I need another SharFinger. I gave my last one to Seth. Durned kids. :D

I will be upset also. I have about 4 Schrade knives. I bought mine at Walmart. It would be a shame if they move to China or Malaysia. Who knows anymore?

Co-incidentally, I received a note from my older son this morning indicating the article in the Daily Freeman about the closing of Imperial Schrade on 30 July.

Sad to hear as this put away other names, too, like Uncle Henry. I've carried a small three-blade Uncle Henry for 56 years!

Here's the online article. Sad. My Schrade hunting knife is 40 years old with a stag handle & leather sheath and it is as good as new. :(

It's a horrible loss to see a long standing business go under, but I never cared for their product. I was more of a Case type-a-guy, and of course Puma, Hubertus etc.

They were one of our biggest competitors and it's sad to see them go! Another American company going down the tubes thanks to foreign Imports!
Things at Cutco Kabar where Ma and I work are not good either, sales are way down this year! Many layoffs are coming!

Didn't Schrade put out some 100 aniversary knives this year? Sounds like something you should get for your collection.
