I have been toying with the idea of mounting a scope on my Ruger GP100 .357 but have had no luck finding any mount kits. I have seen them for a 6" barrel but none for the 4". Would it be possible to just have a gunsmith tap a couple holes and mount a scope?

Are you dead set on a scope?

A scope on a 4 inch wheel gun would be a little off balance and funny lookin IMO.

I would mount a Burris fastfire to it. http://www.burrisoptics.com/fastfire.html

The Fastfire mount for the SRH and SBH hunters will fit the GP100.

I beg to differ there hunter. I had a 4 inch S&W that was accurate at 50 yds with the iron sights.

The accuracy potential is there, its the short sight radius that makes short barreled guns 'inaccurate'...

I do agree with the 4" barrel and 5" scope comment tho. That would look a little funny...

should have put a funny face after that one.. I actually had a .22 simi with a 2 in bbl and i would place 9 shots in the size of a basketball at 75 yds.....course i shot that poor pistol till it just plain wore out......

yup, I have shot the pins out of many accurate wheelguns. Its hard not to shoot them like that when theyll hit everything you point them at. I like accurate guns.
