    I just looked at one in .22 mag.,about 80%.
All of my crossovers show it to be a Marlin mod.80.
The Blue Book doesn't even show the Mod.80.
The Gun Traders Guide shows it in short, long and long rifle only.

    So,What is it?

    Any Ideas??

Well, it does cross to a Marlin Model 80. I have worked on several JC Higgins Model 42 rifles and all have been .22LR.

Do you have the rifle there?

    CG,
No,I don't.It's at a pawn shop that I probably won't get back to for several days.I've been looking for a "shooter" .22mag and this one would fit the bill .All the metal is in good shape,no rust, just a little blue wear here and there. The wood has a beautiful grain to it ,but quite a bit of "Honest Use".I can get it for $130 out the door, which is the best price I've found around here on a .22 mag.The stock's condition doesn't bother me,'cause it'll refinish well and that's something I really enjoy doing anyway.

    Thanks,
    BW

Double-check the caliber when you have it in your hands.

If you get the opportunity to make it back (and hopefully buy the gun), please send me all the markings so I can include that on my cross-reference lists.

    Will do!

I'll be back over there next weekend(if not sooner).

    Hopefully it'll still be there.

    Thanks,
