    I voted yes, of course.

The 2nd Amendment starts out with: "A well regulated militia,..."

So, We The People, need to form militias with orderly fashion, to prevent chaos. Good idea! :)

Continuing on with the 2nd Amendment: "...being necessary to the security of a free state,"

Thus showing the 2nd Amendment was talking about upholding each specific States' right to bear arms for the security of their freedom from tyranny; whether private or government, foreign or domestic. And "state" being mentioned in the 2nd Amendment is further proof that the Bill of Rights were originally intended for the States, as well as the federal government; not the federal government alone.

    Continuing on:

"...the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Clearly proving that the private citizens, the people, are spoken of in the 2nd Amendment! Not any separate government paid for, and ran, military, like the National Guard.

Clearly showing, also, that they, the founding fathers of this nation, were dead serious about government not infringing upon this great right of the people to keep and bear their guns.

An armed mass of citizens will clearly make government think twice about attempting to forcefully rule over the people. The 2nd Amendment is great, because if all other Amendments are taken away, people still have the power in their hands to take them back, by force, if needed.

No freedom of speech? No problem. I can shoot with my mouth shut, thank you very much. ;)

Whoever ordered the ban of guns in Washington DC, should be jailed for treason against the free people of the United States of America, and treason against the U.S. Constitution, which clearly states that the right to bear arms for the people, shall not be infringed. Not that it might not, but SHALL not. A clear commandment, that was broken by whoever passed this corrupt law in Washington DC. They're criminals, plain and simple.

Very minor nit to pick, here. That should be State, rather than state. The difference is subtle but vast in meaning. State universally means the larger country (governmental entity,) while state means the smaller, integral parts of that larger State.

The 98% is a fascinating study in psychology if you ask me. When asked as simply as that poll asks it, almost everyone agrees that individuals have a right to bear arms. This shows that almost nobody who opposes private ownership of handguns, assault weapons, along with carry and conceal permits really understands the semantic gymnastics involved in denying those rights. They clearly do not understand that you can't really say yes to this question, and then deny a right to posses a handgun.

I think it most clearly shows that most everyday joe's who support gun control simply don't like the idea of their neighbor owning a hand gun, or carrying it in public, and have no real concern for the contitutional issue.
