very nice. would make a great rest for my pickup gun. 12 pound heavy barreled savage I built I am planning to just set up across the roof of the truck or the hood. this would make it easy..
Been road hunting for many years, time honored tradition in rural Alaska where the road is closed anyway most the year but still passable with 4X4, chains & snowmachine in the bed.
Never thought much about a rest, but great idea. I just usually have the S&W 460 10 inch on the dash. I can hit caribou at 200 yards pretty consistently hanging out the window. I watched a friend hit 12 inch target at 400 yards with same gun; every other shot; but I couldn't myself.
Nice for some. We can't fire from a vehicle or from a roadway, or across a roadway. A loaded weapon in your vehicle while hunting here will probably mean you lose your weapons and your vehicle! Not sure about the disability rules or waivers.
permsfrost this is all private land ( and i'm the tenant who's leased it) i have red range flags at all access points and we have the UHF radios set so legally we are a range , and why its taken so dang long to get anywhere , the paperwork has been a killer alone ..
we got all the neighbours ok's including the coal authority ( nice folks, happy to help less abled folks) and we have the local cops onside and they are welcome to the 35 meter range we have set up for the pistol shooters, this is Australia so everything gotta be legit or we are in real strife .. i've 8 target frames for long range "dinger" targets ( steel plates that reset ) but need to get the rest sorted so we can have 10 at each set of butt's , and speaking of which i better get back to work here , i got fence posts to cut and cart ..
I understand, Jack. Sense that's not a hunting situation I think it would be fun(and legal) here also. Not sure about using itfor hunting on private land in Okla. Where I hunt is on large timber company owned land(millions of acres, here) it would be regulated by state hunting regs.
hunting here is hard on state or gov land and why the game council was formed , and the fact we have the hunters and fishers party with 2 seats in this state government , and the disabled groups and the veterans and cops on side , that is changing , we have 2 million hectares opened for feral animal control just recently and working on another 6 million ( 2.2 acres - 1 hectare) the coal board and all its members have to control feral animals on the land they lease from the government so we have got them to give us another 1.2 million hectares for less abled hunters, as they also must put in tracks for fire fighting on their leased land this works for us in a lot of ways so vehicle based hunting, especially for less abled folks or elderly hunters is growing fast here ..
but we been working on this for 14 years now maybe , its only the last 2 years we have had any luck and it was pure Luck i got into the land i got , The Good Lord sure helps when he wishes 1 neighbour is the land lord , the other a keen shooter who's getting older and behind me all coal lease and national park and state land ( open to hunt)
a post i made about the fight back http://www.thefirearmsforum.com/showthread.php?t=91536
Yeah, I followed your other post with interest, just didn't comment. Would have to say the Lord did put you right where you needed to be. Maybe some payback for your on going struggles in other areas.
I dunno , i do know when i dont listen it all get way harder ..
i'm just a grunt trying to hear The General
I have a prayer for this nation and He's showing me ( when i look ) how to make it a reality
the only real struggle i have nowdays is the ammount of writing on the PC in email and faxes and such , things and people are doing well , amazingly so ... I'm in Awe of what has been able to become real in such a short time , the people that have been put in my path , the wealth of info people are sharing , and the ammount of folks inside both the socialists camp and from inside islam letting us know what and who is happening
but i get the Idea we are only the tools for Someone better and thats just fine too
