The Lyman Model of 1878 rifle and sight package commemorates the year William Lyman invented the company's signature tang-mounted aperture sight. The rifle itself is a replica of the Sharps model 1877, and Pedersoli in Italy builds it. The Model 1877 Sharps had a much lighter, more graceful lock and action than the more common Model 1874. The model 1877 Sharps was built specifically to conform to international long-range rifle shooting rules, as laid down by the British NRA for their national range at Wimbledon. The United States National Rifle Association's national range at the time was in Creedmoor, New York, so these are often called Creedmoor Rules here in America.

This is one of the most beautiful looking and accurate Sharps rifle replicas that I've fired.

Dennis Prisbry has an article on it in the new issue of "Guns of the Old West", and I'll have an article on it in the March 2014 issue of "Rifle Firepower" magazine.
