No, not in any way I am aware. My guess is that no one but Norinco could give you this information. But I know zip about SKS carbines. Sorry.

China is very tight-lipped about their production numbers, and from what little I know, those records of serial numbers and dates of manufacture have never been made public, so no one really knows, except the Chinese government.

The only time you can tell by serial number is if it was made at the #26 arsenal - you will see a triangle with a stylized 26 in it /26\

THen the first digits after the 3 chinese characters represent the number of years from 1956. So my serial number starts with an 11 - so it is 1956 + 11 years or 1967 manufacture.

I am new here, but have owned several SKS' in the past. I had never concerned myself with the dates of man., until my latest as I did not recognize the markings.

So, if I understand, you take the first two numbers, or how does that work, as Steve had asked about his starting with 92XXXX. Yours starts 11, so you add 11 years to 1956 and come up with 1967. Would Steve add 92 to his and come up with 2048? And mine 90XXXX, would that make it 2046? Seems a bit of time travel is required there. :D

It would have made life soooo much simpler if the Chinese just date stamped. But then that would have been too simple and no so tight liped as we know governments are.
