I am reloading 9mm brass with Dardas 125 grain lead bullets and I don't know whether to use the remington 1 1/2 or the 5 1/2 small pistol primers. I Will either work? When should you use the 1 1/2 or the 5 1/2 small pistol primers?
    Thank you.

The 1 1/2 are Small Pistol, and the 5 1/2 are Small Pistol Magnum. With 9mm, you have no need for magnum primers. I'd stick to the 1 1/2s.

Thank you for the reply. I will definitely only use the 1 1/2.

I've used both with no problems whatsoever. There was a time when I was happy to be able to purchase any small pistol primers so I bought what was available. I, as well, shoot Matt Dardas' lead bullets (the best I've ever purchased).

The same holds true for my 45 Kimber. Large Pistol Regular, Match and Magnum. Whatever was available at the time.

I'm not saying that what I do is correct....I've just never had any problems.

+1 to Alpo that you don't need magnum primers with the fast-burning powders used in 9mm reloads.

And +1 to Tim. I also have switched magnum and non-magnum primers with the same reload data. No problems.

If you have the standard ( 1 1/2) primers, use them.
