    Hi Curt.....welcome to TFF.

    OK.....I need to know....

What are the markings on the barrel.....EXACTLY as they're written.

    What is the serial number?

What are the markings on the crane (the crane is the flat part you see when you open the cylinder)?

Does it have a shrouded or non-shrouded ejector rod?

What is the condition of the gun (approximate % of original finish left)?

    Hi Curt:

Well, you're right about the box. The Standard Catalog of S&W says:

"Postwar, in the late 40s and early 50s, K and N frame revolvers were shipped in two-piece gold picture boxes."

It doesn't say how they were labled though.....and, sorry, I don't know.
