Years ago I owned Colt Commander in 9mm. It shot OK as I'm sure the Springfield will. I didn't keep the pistol long as I'm no 9mm fan.

The 1911 full size in 9mm is a very pleasent gun to shoot.. fun too.. I like the 9mm enough that I shoot more of it than everything else except 22lr..And that is in a 1911 platform also..Back to the 9mm,,I have an older SA in stainless and it runs well, didn't have to do anything to it but put a beavertail on it.. Must say it didn't shoot as well as I thought it should so I got a Nowlin barrel for it..Now I have no complaints.. Also have a mixed breed job that I put together and have had some minor problems,
maybe because I used parts left over from other projects..If you load your ammo long, 1.150 or longer with a heavy bullet ,the ten
round 38super mags work well..Must say I have not tried them with a shorter round..
Cheap ammo is not the only reason to get a 1911 in 9mm,you will find that it is a great gun.. Don't need any other excuse to buy one..

I would just get another .45, nothing like it anyway.
