Springfield or Taurus?

    I would pick Taurus cause I'm a cheap SOB.(and) I've had alot of good experience with Taurus.

    I have several Taurus guns and they are ok. I just bought a Springfield 1911-A1 Loaded version and do not feel bad about my investment at all. I looked at Taurus and they have a lot of features, but they are not nearly as tight as the Springfield. I paid more money but I feel that I have a better gun. Having said that, do what feels right for you. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a Taurus.

    I have a Taurus 357 Mag and a Springfield .45 XD. Based on reputation, I think that I would spend the extra on the Springfield.

    Go out and find yourself a Colt. The new models ar great and the Colt name holds on to its value. I have an XSE Commander that is my primary carry weapon and Itotally love that gun. Just my 2 cents worth. :D

    I picked the Taurus and am happy with my choice. It shoots as good as the Kimber, that I sold, ever did.

    Go to both forums, read about the customer service, you will choose Springfield. I own a Springfield and Taurus, I am lucky, I have never had any issues with either but Taurus has the worst CS in the industry (www.taurusarmed.net), not just my opinion.

    Not all Springfield 1911s are made in the USA. I think that some are imported from South America.

    Most of the Springfields I've seen were built on an Imbel frame, from Brazil. Taurus, uses it's own frame, also made in Brazil, but the quality of the Imbel is superior.
    I think for durability, and long term value, the Springfield is the way to go.

    If an affordable 1911 is what you're looking for, get a Rock Island Armory mil-spec .45. Affordable and reliable. :eek: :D

    id get a springfield gi model, i had one and loved it, seemd to be a very well made gun. i completely stripped it down once and the internal parts where very well made and the machining marks wheren't nearly as bad as some of cheaper 1911's i have seen.

    I would go with a Springfield... the many I have fired are great guns.
    I also hear as recently as this week that the CS at Springfield is top notch.
