I called my local gun shop a while ago and asked if had heard any news of the stainless PT 1911. After a short pause ( I think he was trying to stifle a laugh!) he said that they had not heard of any for sale yet.
Has any one to the contrary yet? (I hope!!)

None in my area. You may have to wait a while longer for stainless.

I'm no fan of stainless autos due to them not holding an accuracy job for a long period.

    Just my .02

We have a Taurus representative who has been kind enough to grace the Taurus board with his presence. Here is what he said about the release
of the stainless PT1911 in a short Q&A session with some of the members there.

"PT1911 SS should be coming out towards the end of this year. Early 2008 we should have the Blue and SS with the TacRail, also we should be introducing a Duo-Tone Blue frame SS slide and also an aluminum frame version."

Thanks Guys. I had wondered what kind of timeframe there might still be. I like the blued model, just thought I'd wait for the stainless to come out for comparision.
Hope the dou-tone and the aluminum models are quicker to market. I had never heard about stainless model pistols losing accuracy before.
Still, all in all,the PT 1911 seems to be a great deal for the price. But I am definely not ready to quit carrying my Kimber Compact .

:) Yeah I think the stainless model is on many people's wish list. It should be out just in time for Santa to drop them off to a few lucky boys and girls.

I'll stick with my blue Taurus. I have enough SS 1911's.

You know, I hadn't thought of it that way. But, may be, with a few properly placed "hints" and or pictures or even a wishlist. Who knows, I suppose Santa might catch on.

    Thanks for the link,Taurus.
It's nice to see that the stainless 1911's really are out there, even if they haven't made it to the local gun shops yet. I like the looks of it, but I think I would like a nice set of wooden grips on it.

    Shooter45.

I have a smit and wesson 1911 stainless. Did you say ss is less accurate than a blued gun?

Why? I am not arguing, I just was wondering why.

I went stainless due to summer carry sweat issues. I always figured the ss would hold up better.

I am open for an education.
