I'm sorry I can't give you any concrete info tom. I don't expect it's worth a lot of money but so what, it's a family heirloom. That and those are just good, well built, solid performing double guns. I started with one and while I have a lot nicer doubles now I don't believe I ever had one that I killed any more game with. As far as I'm concerned they are very valuable simply for the part of Americana firearms history they have become. Yours is in the gauge I would desire the most.

Book value (as per Gun Traders Guide) in EX condition is around $300. In my experience, $250 to $300. is pretty standard for most old doubles. Unless rare make/model.

    .410's usually bring a premium.

The date code is on the bottom of the receiver between the hinge and trigger guard. Its not on the water table. It will be a letter and a number in an oval. The letter is the code. This code was used between 1949-1970.

I think you're still looking on the water table with the barrels open. Look on the bottom between the trigger guard and hinge. There will be a letter and a number in the same oval.

According to the 2014 standard catalog of firearms, 350.00 for one in good condition is just about right.

E is 1953. I doubt anybody knows what the circled letters on the water table mean. I haven't found any leads on their meaning at any rate.
