Good luck with that Hillbilly. I **** canned a stihl 2 years ago because of the same reason. I wasnt putting 100 dollar used part in an old saw. I may have possibly done it if the part was local and they would have let me check it for spark but I wasnt taking that chance buying a used one online. I did buy another Stihl 041 Farm Boss and I am not disappointed. This new saw is like having a small motorcycle engine in your hands. It just purrs with barely a vibration.

Sorry, dont know where to get a stihl parts saw or a used coil. My saw is still going strong. Cant beat a stihl though, although I need to get a lighter one. Mine is bigger than I like for limbing or hauling in a tree. That's what I get for getting one that can handle the big bars.....

I have a couple 250 & 260 stihls, they are running though. Had the same coil problem a year or so back, they must have had a bad run of them.

There are a couple of shops around here that keep old parts. i would check to see if they have a new one or used, just PM me and let me know if you are stil looking for your part.I have had a Stihl 024 for about 20 years and it is still going strong.

I should have one extra for an 044. Dont know how many models it fits. If I could remember where that box of parts are...

Post a pic of your old coil. I may have something that could work off some other small later model saws.

My main chainsaw was built in 1958. Its a hoss and doesnt need to have the chain sharpened or adjusted but once in a lifetime. Fortunately I have dozens of spare complete saws for parts donors or get running as backups.
