It was in the low twenties here in Southern Mississippi, too.

Same predicted for the next two days !!!!!!!

Global warming, my foot..... :( :(
  7. But Art, that would be contrary to all liberal tradition!!!!:D The only way to fix a problem is by throwing money in vast quantities at it. Didn't you know that? Just look at what $700,000,000,000 has done to fix the financial markets. I sure hope all those chief executives like their new Lamborghinis. ;)

NOAA: 2008 Global Temperature Ties as Eighth Warmest on Record
    January 14, 2009

The year 2008 tied with 2001 as the eighth warmest year on record for the Earth, based on the combined average of worldwide land and ocean surface temperatures through December, according to a preliminary analysis by NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C. For December alone, the month also ranked as the eighth warmest globally, for the combined land and ocean surface temperature. The assessment is based on records dating back to 1880.

The analyses in NCDC’s global reports are based on preliminary data, which are subject to revision. Additional quality control is applied to the data when late reports are received several weeks after the end of the month and as increased scientific methods improve NCDC’s processing algorithms.

NCDC’s ranking of 2008 as the eighth warmest year compares to a ranking of ninth warmest based on an analysis by NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies. The NOAA and NASA analyses differ slightly in methodology, but both use data from NOAA's National Climatic Data Center – the federal government's official source for climate data.

Go to the General Fourm and check out the "redneck wedding".

I think Waxman might be that guy. Doesn't the guy in the picture look like it could be Waxman in younger days?

So you guys have been collecting other data?
Good for you. It's a free country.
NOAA says 2008 was eighth-wamest year on record. Their numbers go to 1880s.

What's your problem with this information and why?? Have you been launching satellites?
Tell what you've got to Palin's constituents ---who are sinking into the mud.......

JDS instead of worrying about the weather how about you tell us again how your buddies Obama and the rest of the liberals are not after our guns? Why don't you take your liberal crap and spew it someplace else?

    NOAA data isn't "liberal crap."

Obama: "I’m Not Going to Take Your Guns Away."

You believe he's lying. Possibly you believe NOAA also is lying.

I'm not sure one can refute this sort of thing with any
reasoned statement or facts, because one can always
    say facts are lies.

Slippery slope for rational discourse. A bobsled run.
    Enjoy your ride.

Damn straight I do, right thru his (not legally an American) pearly white teeth.

    I don't believe NOAA is lying, and I also don't believe it's man's fault. .

I do believe it is a natural cycle.

What do you think brought us out of the last Ice Age......

JDS I find it funny that you believe only the things that come from government that support the liberal agenda. I thought we would be through with the seminar Obama posters after the election. Although I hear Obama is going to keep them in place to further spread the propaganda.
Whatever the climate is doing it is not man driven.
What happened to global warming? Oh right now you libs are calling it climate change.

    As Freeman Dyson says, helpfully:
"As a scientist I know that all opinions, including my own, may be wrong. I beseech you, in the words of Oliver Cromwell, to think it possible you may be mistaken."

His article linked below, would be helpful to you -- and you may find his conclusions somewhat agreeable.

JDS, I'm reminded of the Newsweek cover story in April of 1975 which blamed CO2 production on the impending global cooling and ice age that may be on the horizon.

I'm also reminded of how scientists have recently pointed to the Methane clouds on Mars as proof that there may be life there, despite the fact that we can't really explain the increase in Methane here on earth because of a lack of increase in biological sources to blame. So, instead of admitting that Methane (CH4) may not be primarily created by biological life (as Thomas Gold suggests), we come to the false conclusion that there must be biological life on Mars, instead of the (I think) true theory that Methane is not primarily produced by biological life.:eek:

I almost wonder if science has lost its allure to those in search of the truth and given way to those only seeking false truths as long as research grants keep coming to do so?...

I believe there are a handful of scientists worldwide who are seeking the truth void of political agendas. I believe William Gray of Colorado State University is one of those respectable scientists seeking the truth against the political tide, even if it means personal loss and loss of research funding.

I also think back to Benjamin Franklin and his role as one of our first prolific Meteorologists. You see, in Franklin's time, the general belief was that the world's temperature was rising. Franklin purchased some of the most advanced (for the time) measurement instruments he could and used them on his many travels. The world was warming, as we were emerging from a Mini Ice Age, certainly not caused by Americans' insatiable appetite for 16th century SUVs. We are continuing to warm from that temperature dip and will inevitably cool again.

So, keep on spouting the political rhetoric that the media wants you to believe...

It appears you have never read Dr Roy Spencer. I recommend it.
You are pushing a liberal hoax designed to cause fear and crisis which will the left believes will give them a great political advantage.

I am continually amazed at how one side provides canned solutions to their arguments without really putting together an argument for themselves in these political discussions. A few of us put together arguments using several sources to drive toward a rational conclusion. We typically prove that we are capable of comparing various concepts to support our claims and are obviously FAR more studied on the subject at hand than the opposing side that simply offers generally accepted arguments (actually just links to government websites). The anthropogenic (man-made) climate change side usually sources canned opinions and solutions from groups whom have already decided their demon and cannot be swayed.

Does this show a difference in how well informed one side is versus another? Definitely... It also shows willingness to believe anything told by a source devoid of one's own critical thought... ;)

I could argue this stuff all day but it's really not fun when someone refuses to think critically and says, "well, read this..." Those people typically do not understand what they're reading anyway, so I cannot sway them and definitely cannot have an informed discussion with them...

When you think about it critically, it's really hilarious. Once side believes our actions are so much to blame for the direction of our planet and indeed our own existence, yet they seem to be very unconcerned about studying and forming their own concise argument regarding the subject; preferring instead to just listen to the 'other guy'. That's just funny...

    Hey, just an observation... :)
