Maybe the crack (ed) reporter Jerome Corsi got it right in his book:

"Jerome R. Corsi and Craig R. Smith expose the fraudulent science that has been sold to the American people in order to enslave them: the belief that oil is a fossil fuel and a finite resource. On the contrary, this book presents authoritative research, currently known mostly in the scientific community, that oil is not a product of decaying dinosaurs and prehistoric forests. Rather, it is a natural product of the earth. The scientific evidence cited by Corsi and Smith suggests that oil is constantly being produced by the earth, far below the planet's surface, and that it is brought to attainable depths by the centrifugal forces of the earth's rotation.[64]

Who says the left gets to decide the definition of energy independence? How is it that drilling and refining our own oil or mining our own coal not energy independence? How come nuclear is not in the lefts vocabulary?
Someday I'm sure that we will be off the fossil fuel train but it will not happen in our lifetimes I am sure. When it does happen it will happen because of risk taker capitalists and not because Obama and a bunch of liberal socialists.

When the oil geniuses from Texas had the chance, they did zip.

But wait...If Jerome "Swiftboat" Corsi is correct, there is more oil being made all the time and we've got nothing to worry about. All those petroleum geologists are participating in another conspiracy.

A chance to do what? Who are the oil geniuses you are whining about?
No conspiracy could ever top the global warming BS we hear.
Government is not the answer to almost any problem we face in this country. Free enterprise and capitalism is our best hope.

I disagree and to me that is why the GOP is such a mess because they won't fight back against the liberal BS. Our very institutions and foundations are being assaulted by liberalism.

What "they" didn't do was define "energy independence." Bush's idea of energy policy was "the market," which is fine if you're a Saudi prince.

I don't believe "energy independence" is achievable, it's just a feel-good slogan...but domestic production of fossil fuels certainly won't do it unless one tolerates vastly more air pollution, via lots of low-grade coal-burning, than is presently or has ever been the case. No credible source contradicts this.

To "define" "drill baby drill" as energy independence, or as a meaningful route to such, is to define nothing at all. Any sort of realistic energy policy, yeah, imposed by the elected government, is better than nothing.

JDS do you have a good dental plan because you will need it for all the liberal kool aid you drink.
You sound like an Al Gore talking point.
You are so right. The free market is evil and we need central planning to save us comrade.
Capitalism needs to be stamped out and replaced by government run everything. After all only the government can fix or supply what is needed.
If only we submit to the wisdom that is Obama we will all be saved from ourselves.
To guys like you energy independence is lowering us to the level of a third world country.

I've been told I'd argue with a fence post, so when I stop arguing with someone... Well, there's something to be said about that. :D

I know Pony but I feel like if maybe we all spoke up more over the last 8 years we would be better off. I have decided not to be silent and to be on the offense. They have done it to us forever and we have allowed it. To much is at stake to allow them to set the rules.
I apologize if that offends some but the future of my children and my nation is in jeopardy.

Satellite, I've got a kid too. I too, worry greatly about his future and how it will compare to my past and current lifestyle. The most important thing I'm going to TRY to teach him is that one should think for himself. If you can't think for yourself, don't form an opinion based on your friends' opinions. That's bandwagon mentality, and one should reserve that for sports... ;)

Lately when someone exhibits the bandwagon style thinking, and I've tried to sway them already, it's easy to give up. It reminds me of the article I read the other day.
