Last year I finally got my crap together and created a trust so I could avoid some of the unpleasantness of the NFA registration process. With the new changes to the regulations on the horizon that will make it more annoying for trusts to register new NFA firearms, I've been submitting a bunch of forms. Two SBR's and a several suppressors so far. Approval has taken between 1-4 months so far.
I have a 22lr can coming together on the lathe and a 308 can completed a while back. I also have 375 and 44 caliber designs floating around in my head and on paper until I buy material.
My latest project is a 17 caliber can for a Savage rifle. I made it from 1.125" tubing with steel and aluminum baffles. The end caps are welded on. It works well on my 17 hmr rifle and contender pistol. The muzzle blast is nearly eliminated but the 20 grain bullets make a loud but not uncomfortable crack. Accuracy remains good enough to hit quarter sized pieces of clay pigeon out to 200 yards. I want to try it on a 17 Fireball when I can find one.
