The surprise lilies have started blooming. They're called surprise lilies because you never know where they will pop up. ;)

we had some of those pop up all over our backyard a week or two ago and had no clue what they were. they look kinda scary from a distance, looking like one big tentacled flowermonster, until I noticed it's just a bunch of little flowermonsters hanging out together.

now I know! and knowing is of course, half the battle. :)

SoMo. those are really pretty. My wife was really impressed. I don't think we have these in our neck of the woods; I don't recall seeing them.

Do you have rain lillies where you are? They come up and bloom all over the place after the first summer rains. The deer love 'em!

Mrs. Sackett is calling them 'spider lilies". Thats more than I know, except they just seem to come up anywhere. I don't think my bees get on them, but I'll look closer.

Hmmmm.... they DO look sorta like spiders, don't they?

Carl, I've not heard of rain lilies. You'll have to post some pics next time they bloom.

Leave it to a woman to junk up a gun forum with posts about flowers.

Sorry Sniper, just trying to give you guys a little culture. :p :D :D

Besides, this will give you something to talk about with your wives, to show how sensitive you are. Wives love that! ;) :D :D

I will do that. They grow about eight to maybe eighteen inches tall, have a single white bloom for about three or four days, and then they are gone - or the deer have eaten them. The deer come right up on oour fromt porch to eat my wife's flowers!
