    anyone been following this ?

I believe we will see some large national strikes/protests starting sometime this summer when several million people will max out their employment benefits with no jobs in sight. Thought you might like to follow this just to see how it develops. I know several people involved in the Teaparty effort and they are also starting to talk of a nationwide strike on April 15th and again the week of July 4th. Of course, I'm sure some of you are getting just the change you voted for.....so you can ignore this and just go back to sleep.

The spark of Freedom is igniting within the hearts and minds of the people in America, as well as globally, and we all have the moral obligation to fan the flames. The time for taking our freedom for granted has passed.

It is now time to stand for freedom individually and collectively, and make the sacrifices necessary in order to reclaim it. But it is easier than most of us know.

There are only 3 things we need in order to ensure success. We must be Pro-Active, Non Violent, and Massive in numbers. There are over 300 million of us, here, in this country, trying to survive under corporate fascism. It is time to stop the so-called "Wheels of Progress" from crushing our lives and our planet.

Those of us who realize just how much peril our country, our lands, our homes, our children, our descendants, and our future are in, need now to come together in peaceful, proactive non-compliance. The system is dependent upon our cooperation, and thrives on it daily. Those of us who know where we're headed, have a duty to defend our families and our freedoms, but we no longer have to die in order to do that. This time we use our numbers, and we use brains, not bullets.

This time we participate in "Peaceful Evolution, Revolutionary Thoughts, and the Resolution to see it through". This time we stand as one. No longer will we support a corporate agenda that is able to take our money because their privately owned media misrepresents the news and lies to us in order to keep us in the dark. They exploit our ignorance, making it more and more difficult to find the truth, because they realize that if we knew what their real agenda was, we'd stop it immediately.

"You can fool some of the people all of the time; and those are the ones you have to concentrate on." -- George W. Bush "If the American people knew what we have done, they would string us up from the lamp posts." ---George H.W. Bush "There's three things to remember: claim everything, explain nothing, deny everything."--Prescott Bush, father to H.W. Bush Those are some mind blowing quotes, but it's not just about the Republicans, or the current administration. This is way beyond party lines, religions, or labels. This is about freedom or tyranny, and more and more of us are learning that every day. No longer are we content to hand our power over and believe talking figureheads who refuse to tell us just exactly where our money is going, while AIG and Goldman Sachs make billions in bonuses and expect us to foot the bill for their Wall Street gambling casino games. This is another great wall that must fall.

No more will we submit to or pay politicians who steal our money while ignoring our wishes.

No more are we willing to allow our individual freedoms and personal rights to be trampled by this out of control, "Government gone Wild", who utilize our own military and police force against us, while partying with our money at an event we're not invited to.

No longer will we submit to "Rule of Law" and U.N. troops who are called "Peace keepers", but are actually foreign troops occupying our land and confronting citizens. We will collectively refuse to place ourselves in harms way, and go about the business of living our lives and becoming as self-sufficient as possible. We will fortify ourselves within our homes and communities, and look to our local county sheriffs for protection against this out of control monopoly.

Those of us who are in the military or police force must honor the oaths that were taken when we chose our positions. We will defend our Constitution against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic. No more ignoring our Constitution & illegal Patriot Act mandates. "We the People" are taking our power back, first individually, then collectively, as we stand for freedom by totally and peacefully withdrawing our support from the government corporation that sold us out generations ago.

"WE The PEOPLE" ARE PUTTING OUR SO-CALLED LEADERS ON NOTICE "WE THE PEOPLE" ARE CALLING FOR A NATIONAL STRIKE APRIL 15 - 18TH "WE THE PEOPLE" ARE WITHDRAWING OUR MONEY FROM YOUR INSTITUTIONS and supporting ourselves and our communities because you've refused to do that!

I only agree with half of that stuff, so I will stay home for two days(saturday the 17th and sunday the 18th). Oh, wait, that's the weekend, and I was going to stay home anyways.

    Good luck with this.

It won't matter if it is an 8 day strike or an 8 minute strike. What will matter is if enough people participate. Much of our everyday dealings are robotic now, so it is harder to make a statement with a strike. When all the workers, shop-keepers, clerks and other proles closed up and went to the streets in the past (think Hungary, late 50s) it brought the matter to the attention of many who were not aware of the foment. Today, you would have to gather all the workers at WalMart, Safeway, Shell, Pizza Hut, McDonalds and such to bring enough of a slow-down to really grab the attention of the average, non-political person.

This is a good idea, but will probably fizzle, unfortunately. There are not enough people with enough passion to jeopardize their jobs to walk out for a few days. If we refuse to shop and buy for a few days, most businesses will not worry, because they know we have already stocked ahead or will rush in afterwards to fill'er up again.

I don't know the answer, but I do know we have to keep pushing with public demonstrations, cards'n'letters, phone calls and personal contacts with our hired hands. The T.E.A. Parties are helping, but that is not all we can do. We can put on bumper stickers, fly flags, hand out leaflets and make (or listen to) speeches. But the only thing which will really get their attention is our participation in the electoral process. Find and join your local political party. Attend the caucuses. Talk to new candidates. Let them know what concerns you and what will drive your vote.

Step in, step up, sound off. That will work. We can make it work.

The post is labeled Tea party but it seems to me to be some liberal whacko outfit. Look at their agenda, anti-business, anti-war and self sufficient environmental communities (aka cap and trade).

I'm retired so I will stay home everyday.

    I got a BETTER idea.

Don't buy gas on the 15th of every month.
Teach those greedy bastards a lesson.

Right! Risk your job when you don't show up for 3 days?

    Who are you punishing?

I second Terry P's thoughts. This has to be a leftist hoax.

To Bobitis... what the hell does gas have to do with this? Do you not realize that oil is traded on a world market and not set by the oil companies? If you hate the price of gas, encourage your congressman to support domestic drilling. I can promise you this right now, as a consultant in the oil and gas industry, no one is seriously committing to developing new fields due to this administrations attack on fossil fuels. If you consider that a selfish move on the part of the oil companies, well then clearly there is a lack of understanding on how much is involved in exploration and production. To develop a large deepwater field with multiple sea floor wells, you're talking about a budget equal to that of some small nations. The logistics involved rivals that of an expeditionary military force. Let me ask you this...Do you participate in any form of diversified investment? If so, I guarantee that you own some portion of a fund that is paid a dividend or return from oil companies. So, by punishing them, you are punishing yourself.

Here is a tid bit Washington isn't telling you. When oil is taken from the ground, it is as we all know, refined into various fuel grades and oil types. What you might not know is that the process involves cracking this crude product and in the course of refining, other gases and liquids are captured...hence the term "petrochemical." These chemicals are then broken down further and purified. These chemicals are sold to other processors who do all of these amazing things with them. Chevron produces herbicides and pesticides. Yup...through their Ortho division. Other companies take these petrochemicals and form a vast array of advanced polymers. So the point of all of this is the following. Washington and Obama attacks oil companies on the basis of their fossil fuels. Well, those fuels are only one portion of the "end product pie" we all eat from. The price margin for this pie is so tight that elimination of one product produces a cost increase among the rest. If you keep removing products, eventually it no longer becomes profitable to drill. SO when that happens. No more of any of the above mentioned products. Guess who the grain producer to the world is. The U.S. Guess how they produce that wonderful crop. Through the use of fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides. Guess where those agents come from. Oil. When oil is no longer profitable, there will be less agricultural chemicals. Food production will decrease. Food prices will rise. People will go without.

I'm not trying to speak for Bob, but I took his gas comment to be directed @ .gov for the huge tax they've put on every gallon of fuel sold.

(I could be mistaken though.)

i'm thinking who ever is behind this idea mean for the people to show
a message of solidarity to the powers on captiol hill.

i agree with several of the comments that striking would be risky and unless done in mass as stated the folks at the stores will hardly miss a beat.

actually i investigated this a bit more and am trying to contact the representative in our area but so far i have heard nothing.........

most american's feel something needs to be done but very few want it to include personal sacrifice.

we have allowed congress to pass laws that they are exempt from...how brilliant for them bad for us.

the good books says sacrifice brings froth the blessings of heaven.

i suppose when the working class gets tired of being the only ones sacrificing someting will prod them along towards change, until then only time, taxes and death are constant.

Actually, my comment was made due to the absurdity of the idea.
A couple years ago (around here anyway) folks were saying "Don't buy gas next Tuesday", as a way of getting back at big oil for jacking the prices.

I get 6 weeks vaca this year, so taking a week off has no affect. I still get paid, and I'm still taxed. Strikes are for unions. They are bargaining tools for themselves, and their employers.

If anyone thinks I'm gonna risk my job by telling my employer 'I have a problem with the Fed', they are sorely mistaken. The fed is not my employer.

If the gubmint employees wanted to do it, it might work.
    Wait.... They're union.
Think they're gonna crap in their own mess kit?

    The whole concept is ridiculous.

That was the way I read it. Try to fool the legit protests about big government into supporting big government ideas.
