    My battalion at Dong Ha.....7 April 1968, NMCB-5’s Detail Romeo completed a C123 capable airstrip at Ca Lu. The propject, soon to become known as LZ Stud, was begun on 14 March 1968 and was utilized by U.S. and South Vietnamese Forces during Operation Pegasus in the relief operation of Khe Sanh.

    8 April 1968…The Siege at Khe Sanh ended as the overland relief effort named Operation Pegasus broke thru to end the Seige. The defense of Khe Sanh was code named Operation Scotland and the aerial bombardment campaign to support the base was code named Operation Niagra.
    2,097 were killed at Khe Sanh-427 Army, 1391 Marines, 57 navy, 42 Air Force, and 175 Civilians ......
