Unconventional M1 Garand barrel?

    I remember some members of the US Navy Rifle Team shooting M-1's chambered for 7.62X51 at the National Matches at Camp Perry back when I was shooting. I didn't know any of the Navy rifle shooters, but I shot in a lot of pistol matches that Don Hamilton shot in. He won the national matches a couple of times if I remember right and set quite a few records.

    He, He, He, I was a mine sweep sharp shooter with the M-14.
    We called im 'sky rifles'.
