Union switch and signal 1911

    Remove all the parts from the frame.

    Cut the frame in two with a torch.

    Throw the cut parts into the nearest, deepest body of water.

    I should have added:

    Purchase a good frame and install all the parts.

    Then you still have (most of) the gun and the story.

    is it possible the frame could be a 80% finished frame home build which i believe does not need to have a serial number on it unless it is sold therefore legal without a serial #

    Anything is possible, but it wouldn't fit the OP's story. (They weren't selling 80% frames during WW2 when this gun was supposedly made. (according to the family story.)) And it is supposed to be serialized if transferred (not necessarily "sold"). He didn't "make" it, so without a serial, it is contraband.

    In any case it is nothing better than a parts gun and not legal as it currently exists.
