I have a casing here and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what it belongs to?

    Welcome to TFF smanuel! :)

Looks like a military round of some sort.

How about a little more information? Is it rimmed, semi-rimmed, or rimless? Rim diameter? Bottlenecked or straight wall? Rifle or pistol? Overall length? Case mouth inner-diameter?

It's a bottleneck and it appears to be from a rifle. The diameter is 3/8 on the end and 5/16 at the neck. It is 1 1/2 inches long and is made of a non-brass metal cause there are a few rust spots on it.

I have attached a side view pic.

    Thanks again

7.62x39. Made in '94. Probably steel case.

Yup, 7.62x39 steel-cased ammo. The headstamp of 71 means it was made in the PRC. 1994 manufacture. See this chart for help identifying 7.62x39 headstamps.
