i remember when a good ruskie sks could be had for between 100-150$
lately over the last few years I see prices as high as 450$ for any sks
I usually look out for deals.. have snagged a few.. bought a norinco that looked mint plus a spare stock for 120$ a while back.. box mag was open and trigger group out of her.. owner didn't know how to re-assemble. so was selling cheap. I tried to do him a favor and told him how to put it together.. didn't wanna stiff him. he didn't care.. wanted to sell.. so I got that one cheap..
anyway.. still always looking for one.. even a norinco...
found a norinco with blade bayo this weekend.. had some surface rust / mild pitting on rcver rear cover, and 1-2 spots of cosmetic on rcvr, bolt and fore bbl. all purely colmetic. inside of bolt.. magwell.. bolt face.. fire pin.. trigger group.. all spottless. someone had obviously tried to remove the rust with polish or something and left marks all over the blacking. cosmetically damaged for sure. i got it down to 225$ and grabbed it.. figured i'd make it my shooter. bore is absolutely mirror.. bolt and action .. I can't tell if it's ever had a round chambered.... box mag is different sn from rest or serialized parts of gun.
225? did I do bad? I figure as a shooter she would be ok.. I know she's a 'rinco
she was missing the front site post. base was screwed in.. just somethig sheared it off..... I just drilled the center of the plug out to extract and install a new front sight post. no other damage.
wish someone wouldn't have tried so hard to remove the rust spots. they don't look to have been that bad.
makes me want to remove the furniture and strip and black her.. but that would be more $$ and I don't really want to put any in her.. thus the idea for a shooter.
thoughts? be honest.. I've overpaid on a gun before..
