How important are plastic wad types for shotgun shell reloading? I have thousands of green plastic wads with no marking on package They look similar to Waa12 plastic wads but I have no idea what manufacturer they are. I would like to use them but dont know if it would be ok to substitute them for shotshell loads with waa12 wads.

You'd have to first make sure they're for 12 ga dia. Then you'd have to know the height of the petals that would relate to how much shot that part would hold. Then the height of the wad below the petals. If all that was the same as a known wad you could maybe try them using the data for the known wad. Better to identify the make & type though. I use alot of windjammer brand wads that are supposed to be the same as Waa-12 wads. they shoot fine with the winchester wad data.
