Are the following items worth more than $1.000.00 as a group?
(The holsters are for a larger frame frame gun.)

    Colt M1849 Pocket

    Colt M1862 Police

I agree. But,unfortunately, I can't do that to a friend. He was offered that amount for his guns and holsters. I think they should bring more.

Value & offers depend on various factors. If "friend" is trying to sell the stuff he should offer them to several dealers and get offers or put them up for auction. A dealer isn't going to offer near what the stuff would price at retail. He has a mark up number in mind for a profit. A specialist dealer in old Colts would probably offer more than an average person would. The dealer knows what he can get when he sells. The $1000 sounds like at hip shot from someone who sees a possible opportunity.

As for "doing that to a friend", if he is serious about selling and doesn't want to get into the marketplace, offer him what will what will make you both happy.

If I understand correctly, the $1000 was for the two guns and the holsters. The guns look to be worth around $500-600 each (due to the poor condition) so essentially the holsters are a "throw in". Some models of those guns would bring a lot more, but going by what I see $1000 would be a bit low, but not robbery.

I am no holster expert and may prove it by saying that those look like they were made from a kit like those put out by Tandy and others in the 1960's and 1970's. They would be serviceable and decorative (depending on taste) but of no significant value.

    Jim,
Neither am I and felt the same way about "throw ins" until I talked to a friend that does know holsters. Apparently the Heiser can be worth some serious bucks. ($300-$500+). (I'll believe it when I see it.;)) He felt the other one should fall in the 100-200 range.
I think there may be some truth in this as when I told the prospective buyer that the owner might want to hold the holsters back, he informed me that, in that case, he would expect a reduction in the $1000.00 offered...

If I got an offer of over $1200 for the two guns, I'd jump on it. The hand-tooled, double loop, Heiser holster should bring $400 or better. The home-made holster would just be a throw-in in my opinion.

    Thanks guys,
I've recommended to the owner that he go for at least $1600-$1900 starters for the package. (More if he pieces them out)
