Is there any proof the this has actially happened?

Way to go Florida ! so good now if all other states would do it

    One down.....49 to go!!!
Florida is the first state - Hooray for Florida

Florida is the first state that is now going to require drug testing for welfare! Some people are crying this is unconstitutional. How is this unconstitutional? It's completely legal that every other working person had to pass a drug test in order to have a J-O-B that supports those on welfare!

    ummm..
QUOTE:"Under the law, which takes effect on July 1, the Florida Department of Children and Family Services will be required to conduct the drug tests on adults applying to the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program. The aid recipients would be responsible for the cost of the screening, which they would recoup in their assistance if they qualify. Those who fail the required drug testing may designate another individual to receive the benefits on behalf of their children."QUOTE

first this only effects those applying for FEDERAL TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY FAMILYS? WHAT ABOUT THOSE ON THE STATE DOLE?

SECOND..EVEN IF THEY FAIL THEY DESIGNATE ANOTHER TO RECIEVE THE BENIFITS THEY FAILED TO QUALIFY FOR?? now thats doublespeak in any language..

really needs to be tougher!! fail you get NOTHING!! and drug testing required for all state and federal subisty programs. i say this because I know a few druggies who only work long enough to draw unemployment then get fired..the cks pay for their drugs and allow them to focus on dealing full time...

If nothing else, it's a step in the right direction.

If they fail, the portion of the benefits that would pay for their children can be designated to someone else. If mom is a crackhead, her mother can get a little help raising the kids (her grandkids).

It's not perfect, but it's an improvement. Grandma is far more likely to make sure the 5 year old gets some food than the strung out mother is.
