    Hi bigjim.....welcome to TFF. :)

Sorry for the delay. It sometimes takes a few days as people pop in and out.

    Blue Book value:

    Savage Model 99F:

    98% - $630
    95% - $525
    90% - $450
    80% - $400

Add 35% for .250-3000 Sav., .358 Win., or .284 Win.

The scope would also add to the value, but I don't know how much.

I believe the .284 has similar ballistics as the .270, but could be wrong. Model 99' Savages at Grice Gun shop in Clearfield Pa sell for $600 plus in any condition, any age. They don't last very long in the gun racks either. There are always bunches of lever Marlins and Winchesters, but Model 99's are very scarce. Even Savages in calibers like the .303 and .22 Hi Power, that no longer have ammunition manufactured for them sell at a premium. Besides since that rifle has been in your family, I suggest you use and enjoy an excellent rifle. I have a 99 takedown in .300 Savage. Has aperature and scope sights. Take it apart, put it together, whatever, zero doesn't change. Dependable to 300 yards which is the longest range available. I had a mixed lot of ammo from 125 gr to 180 gr. Didn't know what or which. Shot it all rapidly at 200 yards with a weaver 1X scope and it all held in a 3 inch circle. I hunt with a 99 in .303 Sav. with 180 gr cast lead bullets from Moyers. One shot, meat in the pot. Zero at 150 yards for Penns woods. Plenty of knockdown, plenty of penetration.
