Neither Ruger or Keltec recommends replacing recoil springs.

I have an old Kel Tec P40 that has never failed me. I take this gun 90% of the time and I do trust my life to it.

How about the Walther PPK? or the Walther PP? The
Walther PP is about the best shooting small pistol I
have ever shot. You could do head shots all day long
at 25 yards, with one hand.

Do that in a "duty to retreat" state, and you're going to jail for LIFE.

same features yes in a lot of cases but performance isn't that close. the 9mm does so much better than the 380 and the 9mm loses less energy from a shorter barrel than most other calibers. look it up

I think my next purchase is going to be the new Ruger LC9.

Looks like the LCP's big brother, it should be sweet!!!

There are so many, and everyone has different tastes.
Best advice, dress the way you do the most, go to the candy store,
and try a bunch of them on for size and feel.
Obviously slacks are different than wranglers, revolvers are generally fatter than
a Ruger LCP, which BTW, is very smooth and sleek going in and coming out
of the pocket, especially if you wear tighter style pants.
What type of 'knock down' do you want.....so consider the caliber, that will
    play a role in deciding.
The 'best' one has to be, IMO, a choice from your candy case, so whichever
wardrobe you choose for an outing, you will have the right pocket protector to match.
One of my faves is the Taurus chambered for .410/.45, a bit on the large side,
but very effective, bobbed hammer of course.
