Please tell us what yours is how you would change it if you could

I must say that mine is the NEWS MEDIA
I think that over 95% is opinion and not news.
I am like Joe Friday give me the facts just the fact and I will forum own opinions. I don't care what the big name news reporters think about the war or the murders or politicians. I just want to know what is happening and where.
If I was in charge of all the news it would be the facts and the facts only. Any reporter that said
" I think " or "I predicate" they would be fired right then on the spot and black balled from all other news stations.
If they want to be a talk show host then they should go apply for that job.
Now what is it that really gets under your skin

Stupid land vehicle jockeys - those that follow too closely would be on the top of my list, and those lane changers, make up appliers, novel readers, and cell phone talkers .... and those that follow too closely, or did I say that already? Those that follow too closely are the dumbest on the road. They don't realize the problem, because they are too busy applying makeup. But my real pet peeve is that there is never enough gravey for the mashed potatoes.

Marlin may throw something at me here...But mine is trains.

Not the beautifull old locomotives of course, but between the grocery packing plant and the Co-op here in town the durn things are comeing through here every couple hours, and since I do a lot of running around town I am constantly waiting on one. The really fun part is when they freaking stop...Block the flow of traffic, and slowly start backing up!

At least I dont live near any tracks so close that I can hear them except kind of off in the distance...If I even notice.

Running a CLOSE second is an incessantly barking dog. It's a shame that the main reason I will someday sell this house and move on the outskirts of town is because my privacy is constantly invaded by some new yapping mutt. I know that there are ways to deal with the problem, legal and otherwise...I've implimented both with good success, the problem is that 50% of the homes surrounding me are rent houses, so about the time you teach some grown person how to respect you, or train his dog for him from the shadows, he will move off and some new idiot will move in.

Ya know, after evaluating my own mind here, I'd have to crawfish on this post...My biggest pet peeve would be the habitual barking dogs...I could wait on a train every day for a little peace and quiet.

    Shhhhhh.........

    :D

All of the above are on my list but #1 is insurance companies that are running the country. Everything revolves around them. Our medical/pharmaceutical system is insurance company dominated. They tell doctors what medications they can prescribe and dictate to pharmacists what the prices will be. Main reason I retired. My wife several years ago was scheduled for surgery that was possibly cancer. She had seen three specialists. I called the insurance company flunky fo pre-admission and was informed that she needed a "second opinion". This after seeing an internist, gastroenterologist and a surgeon. I feel that those three were more highly qualified than some semi skilled flunky behind a desk 500 miles away. After three phone calls to three different flunkies, I told them she was having the surgery when scheduled and they could pay for it or pay for it and the legal expenses when I sued them. They paid.
Our vehicle use is controlled by insurance(seatbelt and helmet laws). Our homes are controlled by insurance(Try to get homeowners policy on the Florida coast)

Too many to list in a thread thats for sure. I guess one is inconsiderate people who think the law doesnt apply to them. And women who don't leave the toilet seat up for men.
  8. Ron, I must agree with you on the news media. I seldom watch any news broadcast these days simply because there is no NEWS broadcast, just BS opinion! Fox News is the only one I can tolerate at all. They at least try to present the news in an unbiased manner, and if they offer opinion it is labeled as such.

However, there is one other MAJOR pet peeve I certainly have as well: Those ~!@#$% TELEMARKETERS! IMHO every single one of them should be tied securely into a burlap sack with a dozen hungry rats, then thrown into the nearest river! I'm on both the Federal and Colorado state "don't call" lists, but I still get the occasional call. To say the least, I am NOT nice to telemarketers. Let's just say my vocabulary generally tends to return to my military days when they call. ;)

I agree with Ron and Pistol on the news Media. In this houce we do not watch the news media. I personally have not watched a network broadcast, on purpose, for over twenty-five yours.

I agree on the Telemarketers, too. I abhor them...... Any that still call here get the fax machine scream for their efforts.....

WRT good straight news, you may not believe me here, but...., back in the late 50s, 60s, 70s and early 80s I would listen to Radio Moscow on the short wave in the afternoons and evenings. I would get MORE accurate news items from this source than was ever available from Nutly and Pinkly, Cronkite or any other of the normal network media. Once one learned how to pick through the propaganda, you could get a very accurate picture of what was going on in the west !!!!!

Crp, I have lived next to regularly traveled tracks both during the height of steam and since. Believe me if I tell you, the railroad activity going on outside is no different than a grandfather or cookoo clock in the house. After a very short time, one doesn't even realize it is there. We lived within close proximity of mainline tracks for many years, as late as about the time SoMo and I married !!

Pet peeve? I have several, but the only one that comes to mind right now is people who don't use turn signals ... followed closely by people who don't know how to turn off their turn signal.

As I consider this; I gotta go with the barking dogs. It seems unless you own a spread out in cattle country somewhere, ther is always a dog barking. Even though they are bad at night, They are really bad during the day when the owners are at work and don't have to listen to them. I gotta big ole Rottie living in the yard over my back fence and he can raise you at least a foot outa the bed with one huge bark!
