Yeah same here, I use cheaper even homemade knives for everyday use, lose 'em break 'em no big deal.

But my homemade electrical pouch knife made from old power hacksaw blades are virtually indestructable. I used to cut big magnet cables down the mill with them. Just properly sharpen them and they'll last a loooong time.

A 12 or 14 ga. home wiring job is no match for it! ;)

My dad made babbit handled steak knives with them when I was still a kid, they're still around.

Down at the USSteel mills I worked at were originally built in the 1890s, our oldest rolling mill was put in 1908, our only "new" strip mill was put in during WWII.

Strange, after we bombed the Japs and Germans out we helped them rebuild their steel indusrty, they won WWII just 20-30 years later.

We had a "Babbit Shop" and a lot of babbit bearings plus our millwrights used to babbit sewdged cable connections, truly old stuff!

Babbit for those of you that have never seen it looks like silver and feels and melts like a soft lead. It can be poured into almost any shape.

......oh, it's kind of like soldering electrical stuff.

Not that I'm neurotic or anything but I have pepperspray in the car, kitchen, desk even out on my deck (for animals too).

Also have a really quick opening seriously sharp knives always close by but not my everyday carry.

I've given my wife several PEPPERSPRAYS, 10% pepper (not just mace) plus I have some around, they'll easily shoot 15-20' full.

The pepper is an eye nasty irritant for anyone including doped up people or animals like dogs with no tear ducts. Plus when I sit out back should a raccoon come nosing around I'll zap it...never had to yet. "IF" you have to zap a bad guy besides hitting him in the eyes/chest get it on his hands, clothes even shoes, leaves a trail plus most bad guys never change shoes. ;)

I've always liked collecting knives of various sizes, they look cool plus another handy tool.

Not every situation requires a gun, BE PREPARED!

.....oh a bat, club or other baton can come in handy.

That's right but at least you have them!

And a knife is great for odd jobs, whitling stuff, cutting pizza. :D
We'd order pizza down the mill occasionally (one of our millwright's dad had a pizza shop), get out my Klein electrican's knife, wipe it off, cut, eat, wipe it off again.

I carry a Kershaw Asset daily, when I'm in the woods I also have a Buck 119 Special and I keep a Swiss Army Rescue tool in my car that I won from TNP. I just bought my son his first knife, a SOG Flash I.

I have many knives as I love them! Everyday carry is a Case Muskrat with bone handles. Not my favorite, but a good solid knife that always does what I want it to. And if I lose it, I'll shed a tear, but have another to replace it.

Kershaw Random Leek folder, Ken Onion design, and a Spyderco A.T.R. folder (now discontinued, a real pity)
Yes, I carry at least two knives, doesn't everyone? :)

I used to carry a Gerber Evo as my EDC, but it's a bit... much. Being so dagger-like, it's pretty intimidating when I pull it out.
Now, I carry around a 2 bladed Remington pocket knife, but it's a burden to dig around my pocket to get it out, and use another hand to fold out a blade.

Now, I'm looking for a small folder with a pocket clip, that doesn't have that intimidating tactical weapon vibe.... considering a Kershaw Scallion
