I am considering purchasing a sub compact 9mm semi auto pistol since I do not own one of these. I already have 5 full size 9 mm or 40 S&W along with many revolvers in various calibers. I have a concealed carry permit and may carry a sub compact concealed. I am open to many suggestions as to make and model of gun and would like suggestions from the readers. I have ruled out a 380 caliber since ammo is expensive and difficult to find. Thanks in advance.

I have a Springfield XDSC in 9mm and am more than pleased. Accurate, dependable and, in my opinion, a bargain.

I am well pleased with my Taurus 709 Slim. It functions well and is easy to conceal.

I like my Kahr CW9, reliability, accuracy and user friendliness all in one package! You can find them used for around $350 - $450 and new for under $500.

Bersa makes a SC9, Kel Tec makes a single and double stack concealable 9. It all depends on how heavy a pistol you want to carry around and how much you want to spend. I own both a Bersa and a Kel Tec. Haven't had any problems with either and I didn't spend 5 to 8 hundred per gun to get them. Each to their own.

The Ruger SR-9C is getting some excellent reviews and is priced reasonably. I too am looking for a compact 9MM and have narrowed it down to the SR-9C or the Springfield XD-SC.

SMLake, I know you mentioned a SC 9MM but I carry the XD .40 S&W SC as my BUG on my off side at 8:00 in a Blackhawk "Check Six". I carry it and my XD .40 S&W Service all day long with 2 extra mags and do not have any issues. The frame on the XD .40 SC is the same as the XD 9MM so the "weight" issue will be very close. I love the XD line and they are the only conceal handguns I carry.

I have never had one problem with my Taurus Pt111. I must say take down and reassembly after cleaning is rough at first but you'll figure it out. I did not factor in how much heavier this thing is when loaded with 11 rounds, 10 in the clip and 1 in the pipe. Three of my friends have them and they have had no problems. The only thing is the double action trigger is rough when your used to firing Colt .45s though. I'd buy one in ..45 if I had the money.

I like the Ruger SR9-C and will be picking mine up next week.

    Mine will be all black.

You can carry it with the short mag or use the standard SR9 mag for more shots.

    Check it out.

UPDATE...I got it and it's tiny compared to my Ruger MK-II .22 auto
