What the heck is going on with the primer supply?

None of the dealers in about a 100 mile radius of me have either Winchester WSP, CCI 500, or wolf primers and they have no idea when they will get more. All the on-line suppliers seem to be out of stock as well. I did manage to find 2,000 Remington small pistol but that was all the dealer had.

What the heck is going on?

Now that Obama has secured a free additional 4 years in office his hands are totally untied. He will start implementing his socialistic progressive programs in force. Look for gun control, hydrocarbon controls (gas and oil regulation out the ying-yang), Obamacare taxes and poor medical coverage for all, more tax payer losses in the green energy field, more corrupt political moves, presidential overrides of the political process (legislature and judicial branches), more deficit spending and free stuff for the masses who elected him in the hopes of geting still more free stuff, and all with no worries of re-election. America will never be the same and will be harmed for decades if not forever.

So everyone starts hoarding reloading supplies because they too will be controlled as will guns, ammo, and shooting sports in general.

Good job American voters. :-( :-(

When Clinton was re-elected there was a panic run AND a rumor that the primers had been 'tagged' to go 'bad' in a few years.
That really set things off!
I was purchasing for a large gun outlet at the time and couldn't get any for myself.

I called The Rock House (a local gun /reloading shop) they only have federal.

Sounds like I'd better stock up while I can. And on powder.

I can't get SMK in .223 69 grain over here at all. Dealers I have talked to have said they can't get them imported into this country because of political reasons...The lax immigration laws here are letting too many terrorists find refuge here, so the US won't allow heads to be exported to the UK. I think someone is telling porkies.

Powder doesn't seem to be a problem - at least around here. The LGS told me he has no trouble getting all he wants of any brand. His distributors are telling him the primer problem is because several government agencies have been ordering pistol ammo by the multi-millions of rounds. The bullet, case, and powder Mfg. can keep up, but primer production is behind and they don't keep a large inventory to help with a surge in demand.

same here.

no winchester primers to be had locally.

I did find a small assorted supply of CCi primers at a show last weekend. picked up the 1 1000pk they had and 3 100 trays.. and that was it. Gander mountains shelves were even bare when I went in.. not that they stock alot anyway.

have a BIG gun show coming up in 2 weeks.. hope to find someone selling some at normal prices.. and not 50$ a brick like I saw 4ys ago...

I can see it now; "Looking to trade reloading supplies" . Ya know, about 2-3 years back when the supplies came back on the shelves; I spent $3500 on primers, powder, and some brass. Got it from Sportsmans Warehouse and they give me 10% off. Trouble is I bought too many 215's and not enough 210's and on and on. Now I need 308 Lapua brass or I can' have enough fun with the Scar, ha ha; will trade primers for brass.

What primer supply?

In my area, I have not been able to buy SPP at any LGS for at least 4 months. ..before that, the price was $37 per 1K and that was limited to Federal only.

I bought some at Powder Valley a few weeks ago and paid a Haz Mat fee but was not able to get CCI primers. ...apparently, sometimes PV has them and sometimes they don't. Even getting the powder you want is hit or miss these days....

Why? Obama was re-elected and he is itching to limit large semi-auto magazines, so-called assault rifles, internet purchases of ammo, private guns sales without background checks, etc.

Have you tried to buy magazines lately?

I was in Cabelas in Michigan 2 weeks ago and they were packed with primers and powder. I mean they no longer kept them in cabinets but had an entire isle full, one side powders and the other side primers. I'll be up there again on Monday, I'll have to stop in and see what's left.

And LD could not have said it any better.

We still have stock here local for me, I don't need more but I'm heading out right now to grab some while I can. Here we go again Obama is great for guns and ammo sells, but now that he has another 4 years we better get ready.
I noticed 22 rim fire ammo at walmart that I was buying a year ago for $12 to $13 for the 550 pack is now $20.00 Good thing I'm stocked on them. I dread what's coming down the pike the next few years not just with our hobby but the survival of the American way of life.

yup.. 22lr went up here too.

I like haveing a few bricks of that.

lets face it.. if the SHT for real.. large guns are nice.. but day in and day out.. hunting small game.. etc.. hard to beat a 22lr.

easy to carry ammo.. and you can store 10k rounds in a 2g tupperware container. looking at long term.. say.. 10-15ys after loss of society.. 22lr might be the last common ammo past muzzle loaders. just because you COULD have 100K rounds stored up, and only be in it for a paycheck..e tc.. etc.. lifetime supply if you rationed it..
