Hello all, another noob here who just inherited waaay too many guns. I have owned hand guns for the last decade or so and have been a PA CCW holder for about that long as well.

After my uncle passing recently I decided to go through his collection and figure out what to keep and what to sell. I plan to keep a well-rounded mix of home-defense and "fun" guns around for a while to enjoytarget shooting out on my friends farms, trap, skeet, etc. I am not a hunter, but I am thinking about keeping 5 or 6 out of the collection you see below, and would like some opinions since making a little dough wouldnt hurt either. I am always open to offers as well.;)

As you may be able to tell, I've been doin a little research:

MODEL GAUGE BBL CHOKE FINISH% SERIAL

    • REM WINGMASTER 870,VENT RIB 12GA 28" MOD 95% S912XXX
    • REM WINGMASTER 870 20GA 28" MOD 85% T5600XXX
    • REM MODEL 10 SLIDE 12GA 30" MOD 40% 225XXX
    • REM MODEL 10 SLIDE 12GA 28" FULL REF "U" 964XX
    • REM GAMEMASTER 141 35REM 24" 70% 28XXX
    • REMINGTON 581BOLT ACT .22LR 24" 90% 1263XXX
    • REMINGTON 572 FIELDMA PUMP .22LR 24" 85% 1963XXX
    • ITHACA 37 FEATHERLIGHT 12GA 24" VARI 90% 6399XX-X
    • ITHACA 37 FEATHERLIGHT 12GA 28" MOD 90% 964XXX
    • ITHACA 37 FEATHERLIGHT 16GA 28" MOD 95% 7254XX-X
    • ITHACA 37 FEATHERLIGHT 20GA 26" MOD 80% 907XXX
    • WINCHESTER 12(nickel steel) 12GA 28" FULL 20% 587XX
    • WINCHESTER 12 12GA 28" FULL 40% 630XXX
    • WINCHESTER 12 16GA 28" MOD 60% 754XXX
    • WINCHESTER 12 20GA 28" FULL 50% 711XXX
    • ROSSI, SINGLE SHOT 20GA 26" 40% "S" 181XXX
    • NEF PARDNER SBI-HR LMTD ED 12GA 28" MOD 95% 206XXX
    • HR TOPPER 88 12GA 28" MOD 70% AT281XXX

Needless to say, I'm still in shock over having all this in my possession. I already have some good ideas of what I will hold onto. Any thoughts for a noobie???

    Thanks,
    Eric

Keep the Model 10s, Model 37s and the Model 12s....

All the rest are "replaceable....."

On second thought, keep the 870s too, THOSE are the ones you can let others use, put the rest away for yourself.....:p

    Hi Eric.....welcome to TFF. :)

    Wow! That's quite a collection.

First thing I have to ask is.....do you have a use for any of these guns? Do you hunt? If so, what and where?

If you hunt deer (or think you might in the future), then you'll want to keep the Remington GameMaster......and I'd keep both of the Remington .22s for plinking and general fun shooting.

I'm not a shotgunner so I can't really advise you on those except to say that for home defense I'd probably swap one of those field guns for a nice short barrel (18") pump gun for home defense.

Other than that, I'd shoot 'em all, and keep a few that feel best to you.

And......if your Uncle had a favorite, I'd probably keep that one in his memory.

    Have fun.....and Good Luck.

Definitely keep the Remington pump .22 rifle. It's great fun.
  5. Frankly, ebruce, I would keep them all and add to the collection! :D

First off, thanks for the welcome guys.

As tempting as it is for me to just keep everything, that poses a few problems

    1) a have a 2BR townhouse with a garage that is already packed to the gills

    2) I dont even have a gun safe

    3) money is kinda low right now

I'm definitely going to keep one of the REM 870's since I know my uncle loved those the most, and I found out that he actually bought the REM 581 for me for my 10th birthday, but dear old Mom is afraid of guns (a country girl afraid of guns  ) so she told him to keep it. Well, I'm 36 now, lol.... just dissasembled/cleaned the 581 last night and put a scope on her, she's good to go!!! Can't wait.

Still having trouble with which 37's and MOD 12's to keep.:(

Hello ebruce: Well I'd keep the 2 Rem. Md 10s, the 4 Winchester Md 12s, the 3 Ithicas with the fixed choke. dump the Ithica with the vari choke systems. the other guns are replaceable, if at a later time you decide to expand again.

If you want to know the value of the Md 12's just email me at winchester12@msn.com a couple of them appear to be worth something from what you've listed.

    Regards Dave

The Remington 581, ought to remain, along with the Win and Ithaca shotguns; the rest will more than pay for a good gun safe!
Sure wish I had your problem!
