According to my latest issue of Modern Gun Values, a Model 60 is worth:
Perf Cond: $175
Exc $150
Very Good: $125
I believe they sell for $195 +/- new, though those won't be stamped Glenfield as that was the name Marlin used on these gun when first introduced in 1982. They are reliable, good shooters ... so have fun!
Glenfield Model 60's were made before 1982. I have a 1976. The Model 60 prices bounce between $130-$200, depending on the dealer. I don't think I'd pay over $125 for a used one, since that is very close to the price of a new one.
I agree that Modern Gun Values lists the gun too high (in fact, I just purchased one for $125 which was like-new/without box), but, that's what the book said. Prices always vary by location and demand.
Greener is correct that the Glenfield was made earlier than 1982. In fact, it might have been around that time when the Glenfield name was dropped. Sorry for the confusion.
I bought a Marlin Model 60 Glenfield in 1972 for $49.95 in Bath, Maine to shoot the rats at the dump. Seems like this was a nightly affair for the people up there. The rifle came with a scope too!
