I need some empty hulls sealed up, so that I can drill out the primer pockets and make shot shell Christmas lights

It's difficult to crimp the ends with and empty case.
How big a hole are you drilling in the base?
Might be able to stuff something in the case so it can be crimped , then pull it out your new hole?

    Steve beat me to it.

Its next to impossible to crimp an empty shotshell and not have the crimp go in.

yep, the crimp only forms correct when it's mooshing down onto a shot charge.

Some sort of hollow tube that would fit inside just right with a solid end could be crafted up but seems like a pain.

Now, a roll crimp might be a little easier, but same problem.

then the light wouldn't be able to shine thru.. hmmm...

you know, some 3/4" or 5/8" clear plastic tubing with a nitro card on top would work I would think?

What about filling it with sand and leaving the spent primer in place

oh, are you going to wire in from the crimp end instead of through the primer pocket/flash hole?

That could simplify things, use a nitro card, drill a hole in the middle to run the wires through then fold in the crimp and use some hot glue to seal it up and keep it in place.

looks like a cool project, I may have to make some myself!
