During the last week of the war, the Russians literally steamrollered the Japanese forces in Manchuria? We're all familiar with no quarter war that the US waged against the Japanese in the Pacific. The Japanese fought to the bitter end in countless island campaigns against the USA, but semingly rolled over when the Russians struck. Why?
the japanese had been withdrawing men on a 1 in 3 basis for the last year of the war , but did do a few times, besides some strong groups around major bases they where very thin on the ground , the soviets as soon as they knew they had germany done started moving troops in to be ready , although they had not started anything until the last week they knew it would not be long as the US kept Russia informed , but Russia was in for the break up and so chopped in hard , while the japanese made it look like they had 300,000 troops they in fact where down to less than 20,000 and only 200 tanks and a few hundred artillery and NO PLANES, the soviets by this time had tanks galore and good tactics so it was a walk over ,
