This may be far fetched, but in another thread I read something that got me to thinking.

With the whack jobs we have running the country and their ideas of leading us to Socialism, is there a possibility of a rebellion by the conservative folks who believe in the principles of the US, and tend to be givers (taxpayers) being run out of the country by the Users (welfare, entitlements, beneficiaries of numerous government policies and handouts) while giving back nothing in return except more illegitimate kids, violence, ruined cities and school systems to revolt?

If so, will the military follow the whack jobs or could the military join the revolt? Of course, that heads down the deadly stream of a military junta taking over, but that may be better than the cretins running this country now (Demos and Rebubs) alike.

Nice thoughts to start the week, huh?

As much as I dislike socialists like Obama, he will not be all the way towards the left. He'll never get anything done otherwise. Bottomline, I don't think changes in his adminstration will be radical enough to trigger widespread descent in the military. The military as a whole may not like him (or they might), but they will support him. The vast majority of individuals who are in it are professionals above all. Obama's the comander-in-chief now, and they will have to serve him loyally whether they like it or not. Sure, you're going to have a few oddballs that will defy orders, but the vast majority will abide by the oath they have taken.

I was still in the Marines at the time and didn't like Clinton when he became President. In fact, at the time, many of us resented the fact that this draft dodging pot smoker was closing down so many military bases and essentially making it harder for us by spreading us so thin. We did however, sucked it up and did our duty. Today's military will do the same. whether or not I have any faith in who's the president, I will always have faith in our military to do the right thing.

A military revolt would only be possible if enough of the command structure were to support it. Even so if the military were to revolt or join a revolt I am afraid that you may not like the consequences. It would most likely lead to the military command structure in charge of the country and that has never been a good thing when that happens. There are plenty examples of countries past and present that were under military rule. It was not a good thing for the citizens of those countries.

Other side of this question....what would the military do if Barry flagrantly p***** on the Constitution (ok, more than he is already)? The military takes an oath to uphold, support, and defend the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES from all enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC. What if enough members of the military believe (like I do) that Barry and his closet-commie friends are DOMESTIC enemies of the Constitution? As a note, I'm ex-USAF. I took that same oath over 11 years ago and even though I'm not in the Air Force anymore, I STILL take that oath seriously. I STILL support and uphold the CONSTITUTION, not the scumbags in Washington, DC. I love my country. I don't neccessarily hate the government, just the scumbags and selfserving douchebags that seem to populate DC.

If States elect to leave the Union, I'm sure there will be plenty of Officers that will turn in their commissions. Through every rank and file there will be those that will leave there stations to join their respective states. I have often said the election of 2008 is so much like that of 1860; there are so many issues that divides this Nation. This economy will fail, ripples are showing up everyday. States will ban together rather than go down with the ship.

Hopefully we have learned the lessons from the War of Northern Aggression and not doomed to repeat them.

You'd have about a third that would set it out, a third that would support him, and a third that would turn on him. The upper military above Colonel wouldn't step up and oppose him as they're very political at that level. Lt. Colonel would be about the top of the ranks that would lead the troops in a revolt.

I worked with a guy who lived in Brasil and had a Brasilian Wife. They both agreed that life under military rule was far better both security wise, but prosperity wise as well under the military rule. Thanks to US pressure rule went back to having elections and a Socialist got in there and messed it up. That's what Jerold and his wife said...

So... i would have to disagree with the idea that military rule is always a bad thing...because its not.

Well the military is divided so that could start a whole new conflict and it could become an entirely nother civil war, and i'm sorry to say to my northern friends the south would win because of the food control and all the people that own guns legaly and illegaly, or we could go with the more simple and less dangerous( but not as fun for some) and just go to mexico

I have a lot more faith that the military will stay true to their oath, than I do of Obama even understanding his oath.
