This was my fathers Winchester model 63, .22 semi auto, its a nice shooter has a few rust lines on the barrel and receiver, it also has a low serial #540, its not for sale but was wondering whats it worth and does the low serial number add to the value? Can anyone ID the peep sight ? it was an add on when the gun was bought new at the factory in Connecticut.

Should be a 20" barrel gun from 1933, first year of the Model 63. I'd value it at $700.

In mint condition this rifle books for $1275, but in the condition shown the value would be around $600. The age doesn't increase the value, but the tangent sight might make it worth a bit more.

Yes its a 20 inch barrel , the tangent sight is a neat little thing and works a well too. There is no writing on the tangent sight but could it be a Lyman?

Probably the Winchester tang sight. Should be marked under the base.

The early 20" guns can bring 2x the 23" price, but only in 95%+ condition. In typical condition, and the condition of your rifle, the values are pretty much equal.

Books are a great reference, but actual selling prices are another story in a lot of cases.
