    Your 1894 left the polishing room in 1906.
    The 1904 date that Madis gives was in error, and has been recently corrected in a new book by Larry Shennum and Bert Hartman.
    We all owe Mr. Madis a debt of thanks for salvaging the Winchester records from dumpsters.

    Kirk, I was able to open the link in first post but not in the second one. It is a takedown full length octagon rifle in nice shape. The rear sight could be factory and if not it really wouldn't hurt the value in my opinion which is between $1500.00 and $1800.00. This type of rear sight was a factory option and that is why I don't think it hurts the value like a Lyman 48 that would cause the receiver be drilled.
