I have one too, although an "E" series that I bought last month for $200. I agree some verbiage would have been nice but the fact that the OP posted this in this forum kinda speaks to his question.

Your Model 1897 was manufactured in October of 1905. It is a standard Field grade gun, and in typical well worn condition. As a complete gun, it will be tough to get much more than $350 for it.
