You all send some of that winter weather down here. It was too darned hot today for me. I thought I'd die in church since they thought we'd not need any A/C.

Forecast says up to 12” tonight, for parts of the hills. Not that much here I hope. Ground is turning white right now.

Yeah, the skeeters are still making as well...Opening week of rifle season was a bust, probabally be spending the rest of the week right here at the house. :(

Cointoss, I'd be proud to take half that expected snowfall off your hands.

You know, I have never been farther north than Kentucky, and I'm sure those of you that live in the northern areas love it there, but I'm sitting here with the AC runnin, in my tank top, shorts, and flip flops. I have never been in a snow storm, or had to dig my way out of the house because of snow drifts, or shovel my driveway. I have however, spent many hours sitting on the Gulf Coast's sugar white beaches, watching the clear, greenish blue water lap at the sand. I have gone out into the Gulf of Mexico and caught fish bigger than me, and my limit of red snapper. But please tell me how y'all can tolerate the cold and snow for so much of the year? I'm sure it's a beautiful place where y'all are, but man, I see the snow storms ( on tv of course, usually on The Weather Channel ) and wonder why in the world would anybody stay there? Don't get me wrong, I'm not knockin your part of the world, but it just looks like it would be miserable. Maybe it's the same way with the humidity here, you just get used to it.

But then again, I can't remember the last time a hurrican blew through South Dakota....

I wouldn't mind seeing a little bit of snow. It's been years upon years since I saw enough snow to turn the ground white.

And by the way, it's a balmy 77 degrees here in South Texas right now. :D

Our high today was around 80° and it was suffocating.

We need some of that nice cool weather many of you already have. I don't see any in sight for us.....

We got our first snow of the season yesterday.......about 3" and more to come.

I guess winter is the price we pay for a glorious spring and a beautiful autumn.

Hydra shok, It sometimes does get miserable when the wind blows and snow drifts, but for the most part us northerns love the three month change of the four seasons. it breaks up the monotony of consistent temps and when the snow falls lightly tis the most purdy thang.
I'm gonna send ya a snowball UPS, when you open the package I suggest you through it at the wife or kids before it melts.

    :D

    Snow

Aw shucks guys-I always read where you southerners want to keep the snow and cold up here in Canada. Not fair-we love you guys in the south and so we want to share with you:D :D :D . We got our first snow on the 2nd of Nov. which is really abnormal for these parts, but it was gone the same day-not even enough time to make a snowball and throw it at someone!!:p :p Looks like it could be a long winter to sit by the fireplace and enjoy!!

    All the best:

I just heard on the radio the first snowmobile death of the season in Greenbay. It appears that a fellow just couldn't wait to ride and jumped on his sled and bought a tree, of course at the time there was no snow. :(

I'd like to see a good 18" snowfall once again before I pass over to be with the Lord.

Had 12"once in North Alabama (Jasper) back in about 1994 during the week between Christmas and New Years. Also, in about 1997 we had another 10" with a long cold snap so it stayed around and caused bad driving for about a week. It was fun watching the locals drive 40-50 in it and then wonder why they ended up 50 yards in a field, some upside down.....

    :D :D :D <hehehehe> :D :D :D

When I was growing up Dad never put chains on the car or truck until we had at least 18"-20" on the ground!!

So you see, misiu, were not all without any experience with the great white sheet!!!!!

LOL ok ysacres send me a snowball, I'll keep it in the freezer. No doubt the snow is pretty when it's gently falling, but man when I see the pics of a driving blizzard and people out walking around in it and the cars slipping all over the road, I think "Man, these folks must REALLY have to get somewhere. In contrast to the dusting of snow we get here occasionally that just shuts the city down. One inch of snow here and it's pandimonium at the grocery store, everybody buying batteries and bottled water. We have the four seasons here too, but spring and autumn usually last about 2 or 3 weeks each, then it gets hot, or cold. The cold is different here too. I was in Kentucky a few years ago for Thanksgiving, with my wifes family, and it was in the 20's, but you could wear a sweatshirt and be comfortable. But here with the humidity, cold goes clear to the bone.

We have approximately 10" of snow here and it is 15 degrees above. Living in the Great White North does present its challenges...however it does keep the riff-raff out.
One of my personal challenges is that every first snowfall is that every vehicle you own usually freezes up or breaks down. And you are always searching for what particular tool that your five year old left on the lawn...under what snowdrift???
But it is great to be out on the deer stand with the aurora borealis flickering away...the world is cold and still...the sun glows faintly on the horizon...and you hear that massive buck approaching...

Its all what you make of it...
