Did ya'll know that you can remove the slide stop on most 1911s by appling pressure on the "button end" on the right side of the weapon, then racking the slide back, just dont allow the slide to return to full battery, and the slide stop pops right out.

You guys probabally already knew that, but I just found out yesterday.

That's the easiest way to field strip it. Wont go back together quite like that, though, hehehehe.

Since you brought it up, one thing I notice some people doing (even my wise ol gun dealer) is pushing back the little spring loaded bar with a razor or something in order to replace the the slide stop...I always just line everything up and mash it in. Is there anything wrong with my method?

If you are real cautious about how you put pressure on the slide stop it will be OK. Most people end up scratching the frame.

Pachmyer makes a tool called a Widget.

It will help with re-assembly. No scratches.
