At this point in time, I no longer have an SKS in my possession but my favorite would have to be the Yugoslavian M59 but I'll settle for any SKS that does not have a useless grenade launcher on it or one of those SKS' that the owner has attempted to turn it into an AR15. Yes guys, I am a purist!

Norincos go bang when you shoot them and they seem to have good barrels. A local dealer was going out of business in the early 90's and I gave him $500 for his last 7 Norinco SKS's....they make nice gifts for kids, barn guns, shop guns, granary guns, truck guns, heh heh heh

I only have experience shooting the Chinese examples. A Viet Nam bring-back and several imports. Every one of them was a good shooter and they all worked well.

I regret not buying a Russian example back when they started showing up. It would have been a nice collector's item.

The one I have always wanted to have was an East German SKS. They are rather uncommon for some reason.

I like my two Russians. Faultless workhorses. Kept the Lami stock,

put a polymer on the other, with a Chinese internal 20 round mag.

The grenade launcher on the Yugos is very worthwhile, because it

acts as a counterbalance, to offset recoil, and get you back on target.

Try shooting a volley at targets with a couple friends, sometime.
