I love history and firearms and the other day My dad sent me a picture of a gun, but I have no idea about it. If someone has any clues please let me know.
That's what I thought too, Skipper - looks like something I cobbled together when I was much younger -
Seems to be a centerfire (looks like a firing pin sticking into that gap)
Can't tell much more from that single picture - MIGHT swivel the barrel forward on that front pin, or there may be some other method of loading that might show from a top view -
But I sure agree - I would not fire it using my worst enemies hand - -
Need multiple views. Top, bottom, both sides, front rear. How is it loaded? Any markings? As for firing, clamp in vice, tie string to trigger, back up at least twenty yards, stand behind something solid (tree, wall, boulder, etc.), pull string, investigate wreckage.
Boy!!!!. I sure don't know about 'turning it in to law enforcement'.
There are lots and lots of good people working in law enforcement. There ARE a few real jerks - and if you happen to present this zip gun to one of them - they might arrest you or who ever it is who has it.
My advice is to take one of those carbide blades on a power saw and chop it up into small pieces and throw it away. This thing is trouble with a capital "T".
Making a firearm for personal use without a license is not illegal. So long as it is not a NFA item, no tax stamp is required. Now if the barrel is NOT rifled, it could be called a short barreled shotgun, therefore a NFA item, requiring a tax stamp before manufacture.
Those home made guns aren't any different, legally speaking, than milling out your own 80% lower receiver and building your own AR platform rifle. Long as you aren't selling it, it's perfectly legal.
Whatever it is, I'd save it until your local Liberals organize a gun buy-back, then turn it in for whatever cash they're offering. You can use that for buying a real gun!
That thing is REALLY scary lookin. It looks like something that was welded together. Whoa!
