It definitely appears to be of European influence, at least. I'd say its a Scottish claymore, but I wouldn't dare try to tell you how old it is. Looks home made form the pictures.
Claymores are two handed swords, the hilt on this one isn't long enough for two handed use, but with nothing in the picture for scale it's kind of hard to judge how long it really is.
