Hope I didn't take advantage in a trade

Dear friend of mine is having to make some very difficult moves. She's 75, her husband, a very close friend of mine, is 79, with early onset dementia. Within a few months, they will be moving to Kentucky, just outside Covington to be near her son. I take her shooting often, she had a Ruger KP345 that she could not chamber. Today I took her shooting again and made her shoot my Snubbie Rossi .357 in Stainless. She loved it, (shooting .38's) and wanted to trade instantly. I know nothing about the Ruger, I do know that that particular model has been discontinued. It is also stainless. Would I be taking advantage of her in the trade? She is not needy financially, They own quite a bit of rental property all over the country, and she is paying cash for the Kentucky house. I know that she could buy any gun anywhere, I just don't want to take advantage of her. I certainly don't need another .45, most especially a discontinued model, but I do want her to be able to shoot something comfortably.

As you have said "she can't chamber it". This makes it useless to her. But she can use the 38 which is usefull to her. Given the fact that she is well off, I don't think you are taking advantage of her in the least. In fact it may very well be that you are doing her a favor.
Remeber that both parties should be happy in a trade. It sounds like she's happy with the trade. Are you?

Sir, Please don't take any offence. But, Mama and I are both "old" and I'll just say the lady knows what she wants and is happy with it, then sir it ain't taking advantage.
Besides a 45 that "she could not chamber" ain't gonna help her if it's needed. A 357 with 38's that she can use might come in very handy. That and no matter if she has relatives in the area at new home it will be an unknown area for her and her husband. A useable weapon might not be needed but knowing you have one that does make a big difference.

Thanks guys, I really just want her to have something she can use if ever the time comes. I have a few boxes of .38's that I bought when I was heavily into revolvers, she can have them. Don't want to send her off with reloads. That should more than make it a good trade for her. Hopefully, we shoot a few more times before she has to move.

I'm with most everyone, if you're both happy then it's a good trade. Now, I feel I should mention that no matter how many rental properties or vacation homes they have or their ability to pay cash for a home in Kentucky, none of this has anything to do with this being or not being a fare trade. Just because someone has more money than we do doesn't mean it's okay to get a better deal than we should. I know you weren't implying this Clipper but I felt I should bring this up.

Enjoy your new shooter

Provided the snubby is in good shape your about $50 off. New Rossi 357 ss go for about $350, used that Ruger is about $400 for a good specimen. If your both happy it's a good deal but I'd still let her know her gun is worth a bit more than yours. She probably won't care and will want to trade anyway and you'll sleep better.

Seems like a fair trade. If both guns were in good working order I don't see any issue. My wife has a Ruger P95 and it's one of the most accurate guns we own. I am not familiar with the Rossi.
