M6 Scout rear sight set screw

I've had this M6 Scout .22LR/.410 for quite a few years now. I haven't shot it much, but when I did, it seemed to be all over the place with .22's, the 410 part seemed to hit well enough. I never really took the time to work with it. The other day, while cleaning it, I found that the rear sight is free to slide back and forth for adjustment, it has a spring-loaded ball arrangement under it to put some tension on it, but it slides easily. There's a threaded hole in the sight, it looks to me like there should be a set screw in there to lock the sight in place. There is no screw in there. The hole seems to be the size of a #8 machine screw, but a #8-32 won't screw in. Using a #4-36 tap as a thread gauge seems to indicate that the threads are 36TPI.
My questions: Am I correct that there should be a set screw in there? Am I correct in thinking it is #8-36, does that exist at all, or is it something metric? And, the most important question of all, Where can I get one? Thanks all for your help. BW

My nephew has one of those that had the same problem, there was no screw in the sight. He said the screw came out while shooting it and he couldn't find it. I honestly do not know if it was supposed to have a screw of not, but I happened to find one that would fit in the hole and screwed it in. He seemed happy with the fix.

I don't know the answers to most of your questions, but Brownell's is always a great resource. However, my local Ace Hardware is a treasure trove of specialty machine screws including lots of blued ones, and they are usually lots less expensive than Brownell's. Worth a check.
