Notice the tic marks!!
This dude was found under the floor of an old mercantile in Palestine Tx.
The property belongs to a close friend and he gave it to me knowing that I would try and get it back on the road.
The hammer comes back smooth and cylinder turns but the trigger does not release the hammer.
I'm a 1911 dude so before I break it down I figured I should seek any "need-to-know" issues/advice.

Drop the loading lever and put the hammer on half cock, pull the cylinder pin until the cylinder comes out the right side. You may be able to hold the hammer back just enough to clear and the cylinder should fall in or out from either side. The cylinder pin is captured and wont come all the way out until the loading lever is removed. There should be a two fingered spring under where the trigger guard was. Then remove the bolt/trigger screw and the bolt and trigger. Next remove the hammer screw and slide the hammer down to the bottom. There's a small screw holding the hand to the hammer. Remove it and take the hammer out the top. That's a cap and ball converted to cartridge and may be rimfire. Makes you wonder why it was partially disassembled before it was hidden. It's also an early 1863 New Model.

You're right about about the TG. I had to do a little work to install one I got from DGW. This is a Rem factory conversion, the S&W conversion, so called, S&W made the cylinders for $1.50 apiece.

It has had some aftermarket work done on it, ejector, etc. I have several conversions but I'm no expert or even a student of them ---->
